Parent-Guardian Orientation
Parents and Guardians of UConn Freshmen
Parents and guardians are encouraged, but not required, to attend the University’s Orientation program for new UConn freshmen. Parent-Guardian Orientation is an opportunity to learn about the exciting new experiences that await your son or daughter as they enter the University and register for fall classes. You’ll meet University staff and get the answers to any questions you have about the high school to college transition process.
Parent-Guardian Orientation is scheduled during the first day of each Freshmen Orientation program. It includes several informative sessions and an information fair. There is an optional second day of the program if you wish to remain in the vicinity until the conclusion of the Freshmen Orientation program. The second day of your program includes several different guided campus tours.
You can sign up for Parent-Guardian Orientation by completing the relevant section of the Freshmen Orientation Reservation Form, which is contained in the New Student Orientation packet.
The Freshmen Parent Orientation charge is $30 per person. Please add this to the student's orientation charge if you wish to attend.
Reservations and prepayment are required to attend the Parent Orientation Program.
The Parent Orientation charge includes lunch for you on the first day, program materials and parking.
Overnight accommodations for parents and guardians are not included in the $30 Orientation charge. A list of local accommodations is available online.
